Sport leading course
In the course, we cover:
- Equipment: the extra bits and pieces you'll need, the options available, pros and cons of different choices.
- The limitations of gear, and how to assess it.
- Lead belaying
- Lead climbing, including things to avoid, forces and the dynamics of falling
- How to get down once you've reached the top; or, if you can't reach the top, how to bail
Trad lead course
This incorporates a lot of the Sport Lead material, but in addition, you’ll get:
- Trad gear: the different types of gizmos and how to place them
- Strategies for leading: where and when to use what gear, rope management, protecting your second
- Building solid anchors
- If you're interested: extra considerations for multi pitching.
